Twas the night before Christmas

Its always kind of hard to realize that christmas is only about an hour away for me. I know that many have worried how lonely I'd be at christmas, but I do intend to spend it with friends and so far haven't felt all that lonely. I miss everyone a whole bunch but that in itself luckily isn't making me lonely.

I met up with Ken again today and I think I may have given him the gift of whatever stomach bug I have. And it really does seem to be the gift that keeps on giving. We walked aroung the area that he's in for a bit and saw quite the bit of christmas themes. It actually looked alot like the decorations and festivities you would see in Toronto on Christmas eve, but for some reason it still didn't seem real to me. There was something missing, and not just a sea of palefaces. And it wasn't the company of my family which even back home I wouldn't usually see until christmas day itself. Then I looked down and noticed something, my jacket wasn't zipped up. Then like a sexy version of Ebeneezer Scrooge I discovered what I had been missing from home. Soul-numbing, spleen-chilling cold. Christmas just isn't the same without it. its warmer.

Hey Kev, it's Mark.

Firstly, Merry Christmas! Not yet for us, but if I did my math right, it is for you, so hope you're having a good one, we're all thinking of you over here.

It's been hellishly busy for Sylvie and I lately, what with the move, getting ready for Christmas, and renovating Mom and Dad's kitchen. We're looking forward to our week off, although the work isn't over yet ;) We are actually hosting Christmas at our new place with Mom/Dad and Sylvie's family (mom/dad, 2 sisters and little brother). We even got a real turkey (ode to Grampa, hope we can live up to it!). I guess deep down we love the hustle, though it can be overwhelming at times.

All in all, things are great, hope all is well with you too. I may be travelling again for my work in January (Ireland and Germany), so that should be an adventure! It's for a software demo/bid with Pfizer (you know the makers of Viagra - insert joke here ;p ).

Anyway, I should get back to it, all the best! Wish us luck in our (well, my) first Christmas hosting!

Love, Mark and Sylvie.

Merry Christmas to you Kevin. Get well soon. Hope Santa brings you the Red Ryder 200 BB gun - but don't shoot your eye out.

Happy Hanukkah Kevin! If I've done my math right (and I very rarely do), because Hanukkah ended here two days ago, it's just starting there! As far as I can tell, it's also Thanksgiving here. At least by the lovely early fall walk I went on today (also with my jacket unzipped - coincidence? No, it really isn't...) Anyway, enjoy, and remember the true spirit of the season, whiskey.
